Imperial Renegades Part 1
The First Bit…The purple glow of the moon illuminated Sally’s silver feathered wings as she flew back to Headquarters.
The purple glow of the moon illuminated Sally’s silver feathered wings as she flew back to Headquarters. She landed on the platform just south of Eagle Bay and climbed, wings folded behind her, in through the opening and up The Ladders, that lead to the Bridge. Her violet hair hung around her face like a veil, and tickled her bare arms as she climbed.
She, like all the other recruits for the Queens Brigade, wore the long black Battle Garments and was armed with the most sophisticated weapons, imported from the planet Earth, situated in a neighboring galaxy. The silver boots and cuffs she wore were gifts from the Queen herself, and the sword, that lay hidden under her wings, was a sign of the highest Rank and Skill. She reached the top of The Ladders and pushed open the doors to The Bridge with one snow white hand.
The entire room was silent, and every pale face was turned to look at her. The melancholy expressions on the faces of her friends and colleges troubled her, she instinctively jumped down to find out what was going on from her Captain.
"What’s the problem Captain? What’s happened?" she said anxiously. She stood in front of Sally shocked, not realizing she hadn’t heard the news. A tear fell from her cheek and dropped to the stone floor, she turned to the computer screens and sighed at the aspect of having to repeat their dreadful news again.
"Sally I thought you knew. It’s the Queen, she’s been taken hostage by those damned Plausinates. They’ve taken her back to their Headcraft. Thirty-six of us died trying to defend her; including Jane."
Sally stretched her wings in grief and agitation, The Queen was gone, her sister had perished and the invasion of her homeland seemed even more inevitable now. No matter how many enemy crafts she took down.
"The Headcraft? But no-ones ever even tried. How are we going to do this?"
"It’s got to be a stealth mission Sally, and we need the smallest of The Queen’s Elite on the job" The crowd that had gathered stared at Sally purposefully. It was true, at 2 PDUs tall she was the smallest, and only half the size of an Plausinate infant. Her eyes shone with the same purple quality as the Moon as she heard these words leave her Captains lips.
"I’m honored Ma’am. Of course I’ll go." She was taken to the armory for new weapons and clothing and as soon as her sword was back on beneath her wings she ran to her rooms to tell Jonah the news. He was thrilled, as she knew he would be and after one last embrace, and a word of warning she pulled her hair into a knot and climbed back down The Ladders to the south of Eagle Bay. She would mourn for her sister after she saved her Queen.
