Peter Jennings Stumbles Through Dinner

While dining at the world-famous Nobu restaurant in New York City, Peter Jennings raised some eyebrows with an unstable stroll.
It would have been very easy to surmise that Peter Jennings may have had a few too many shots of sake during his meal at the sheik Nobu restaurant in downtown NYC. Especially when you consider some of the other celebrities that made appearances there that night. Mick Jagger was with former wife Jerry Hall and a large group of friends, as were Tommy Lee, rapper Q-tip, and Director Renny Harlin, who was accompanied by a brood of conspicuously young lovelies.

At some point during his meal, Jennings walked across the dining room floor and was visibly wobbly and unstable during his trip. Although the restaurant was packed with patrons, many of them famous in their own right, all eyes shifted to the news icon as he struggled to maintain his balance.

The ABC News anchor was a good sport about the incident when confronted by reporters, and revealed that his unsteady saunter was the result of a skiing accident that had required him to be in a soft cast for six weeks. "I had just, literally, gotten out of a soft cast," he said. "I crashed my leg [while skiing last month in Colorado] and was in the cast for six weeks. So I was definitely wobbling." When asked about obvious suspicions that the sake was the culprit, Jennings laughed and replied simply that that was impossible because he had been drinking Chardonnay.
