Shannen Doherty: Charmed Star Pleads 'No Contest' to DUI
After her latest run-in with the law in December, Shannen Doherty has changed her 'not guilty' plea to 'no contest' and will face the legal consequences.
After being arrested in December in California for driving under the influence of alcohol, Shannen Doherty has re-evaluated her position and changed her initial 'not guilty' plea to a more responsible 'no contest.' The star of the WB's 'Charmed' was arrested after authorities confirmed her blood alcohol level to be at .13 percent, which is significantly higher than the state's legal limit of .08. Her initial plea, entered in March of this year, was 'not guilty,' but her attorneys amended her plea at a hearing on Monday, probably after considering the fact that this would be Doherty's first drinking and driving offense. The former 90210 vixen has had some experience with California law enforcement in the past, including an arrest for assault following a disturbance in the parking lot of a popular club.
Under California law, Doherty could face a maximum of 48 hours in jail or up to 5 days of a work release program. More likely would be a sentence of probation or some other form of community service that will forgo the need for the star to be confined to prison at all.
