Renault Expect to Improve Again
Grand Prix: Not content with having won each of the first three grand prix, Renault claim they will be stronger than ever for the next round in San Marino.
Renault will return to Europe stronger than ever as they seek to defend their lead in the Formula One world championship following a "very successful" test in Spain.
The Anglo-French team have dominated the first three races of the season so far, streaking ahead in the constructors' championship and propelling Fernando Alonso to top spot in the drivers' standings.
A return to cooler temperatures for the San Marino Grand Prix is expected to put that good form to the test but Renault are confident they have made yet another step forward this week.
Like most of their rivals, they tested at Barcelona this week and chief test engineer Christian Silk believes solid progress has been made. He said: "Overall, we have completed a very successful week's work in Barcelona.
"The team made a big effort to bring our programme forward, and we have had three dry, productive days' running. Fernando has experienced few problems and completed plenty of miles, working on promising tyre developments and exploring the car's set-up.
"Giancarlo [Fisichella]'s week has been more disrupted, but he will drive again next week which will allow him to get more seat time in the car. Overall, we have found good set-up directions for the race here in Barcelona, but also for the next grand prix in Imola, and we continue to make good progress in our understanding of the car."
