One Split Second

How simply you can be forgotten about by the friends who'll remember your vices, not virtues.
It's one split second, that's all it takes,
To realize that all those laughs were fakes,
To find that none of it really mattered to them,
That once you took a wrong turn, it's the end,
All those happy memories of the sun
Shining down on us, each and every one,
And we'd laugh for hours, stay out late,
We just made everything in our lives great,
Funny times spent each day together,
The memories you hoped were sacred forever,
Are blown away in the spiteful breeze,
And suddenly you no longer feel at ease,
These were the best friends you've ever had,
They're the people who stopped the good going bad,
But one step out of line and it's all gone,
Forgotten as though it was an experiment gone wrong,
I still want to be the greatest friends with you,
But I can tell from your condescending eyes that time has passed through,
All it took was one split second in the cold,
For all our memories to shrivel up and get old...
