It was confirmed by two of employees of the Macomb County clerk’s office that Eminem a.k.a Marshall Mathers III filed for divorce from Kimberly Mathers Wednesday. There has been no official reason given for the split. The filing comes less than three months after the tumultuous couple tied the knot for the second time. Eminem, 33, and Kim, 31, were high school sweethearts and were originally married in 1999. In 2000, Eminem released the track "Kim" in which he rapped about killing his wife. Later that year, Kim tried to commit suicide. Obvious signs that the relationship was less than healthy. They divorced in 2001 and entered into a nasty custody battle over their only child, Hailie Jade, now 10. Eminem eventually agreed to give Kim custody and financial support.
After their divorce, Kim began a downward spiral. She was arrested for cocaine possession. Plead guilty to a drug charge and a driving offense and walked away with two-year’s probation. Eminem was awarded full custody of their daughter after his wife failed to appear at two separate court dates. Last August, Eminem announced that he was entering rehab to fight his addiction to sleep medication.
The couple reportedly worked things out and in December 2005 Eminem announced that the two were back together during an interview with a Detroit radio station. He said. "We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry." They were raising daughter Hailie Jade, Kim’s niece Alaina, and Kim’s son Whitney that she had while she and Eminem were divorced. On January 14, they tied the knot for the second time with hopes that the second time around would be the charm. Obviously this was not meant to be the case. Eminem’s publicist Dennis Dennehy did confirm the split but has refused to comment any further.
