Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her soccer star hubby David Beckham have decided to take legal action against their former nanny, Abbie Gibson. The Beckham's are steaming mad after they failed to win a court order banning a British rag tab from publishing an interview Gibson did claiming that they were on the verge of divorce. Yesterday morning Posh and Becks announced that they were "considering" legal action. The Beckham's lawyers argued that Gibson was in breach of her contract that stipulated she was under obligation to not discuss the Beckham's private lives. Reportedly a High Court judge ruled in the tabloid’s favor, saying the story was in the "public interest." Gibson blabbed to the tabloid that she had witnessed numerous fights between the Beckham's while she was employed as their nanny from August 2003 until she quit a few weeks ago.
A spokesman for Posh and Becks announced today, "The Beckham's will be commencing legal proceedings against their former nanny, Abbie Gibson, for breach of confidence. They will also be applying to the courts to amend their outstanding action commenced last year against the News of the World to include all these issues by way of seeking aggravated damages."
The couple has had a rough year. Last April it was reported that David had had a steamy affair with his assistant, Rebecca Loos. Victoria stood by her man who called the rumors "ludicrous." At the time Victoria said, "We have been through a lot worse than this, and we’re definitely going to get through this." Apparently they have or they have been putting up a great front. Shortly after rumors of the affair threatened to destroy their marriage, they announced the impending arrival of their third child. This past February, Victoria gave birth to their son Cruz, who joined older brothers Brooklyn, 5, and Romeo, 2.
