Kevin Spacey Changes Tune

Kevin Spacey originally told police that he had been "brutally mugged" early Saturday morning as he walked his dog in a south London park. Spacey reported the crime and then received treatment for a minor head injury. Spacey then returned to the police station and withdrew his claim. He made an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Today show Monday morning to clear up any confusion over the strange series of events. He said, "I fell for a con and I was, I think, incredibly embarrassed by it. Some sob story about someone needing to call their mother and could they use my phone." Spacey continued to say, " It was such a good con that I actually dialed the number myself, and then when someone answered I finally handed my phone over, and this kid took off and I ran after him and it was 4 a.m. and I tripped over my dog and I ended up falling onto the street and hitting myself in the head."

Spacey said that he was so mad, he concocted a story about being mugged thinking the police would run right out and find the kid who stole his phone. He said after he had a few hours of sleep he realized he needed to come clean with what really happened and decided to return to the police station. He said in his interview with the BBC, "I just want to apologize to the police and any readers who pick up this story thinking it is actually true. I’m fine. It is probably good that I got bonked on the head because obviously I wasn’t thinking!"

Spacey has always been very protective of his private life and there has been much speculation regarding his sexual orientation. Some think it strange that he was prowling the park in the wee hours of the morning. Spacey dismissed speculation over his real motives by saying it was "a perfectly normal thing to do…my doggy had to go!"
