Ventura, Yankees defeat theTwins

Another victory for the New York Yankees brings their record to 13-3. The win was fueled by a solid six innings from Roger Clemens and the hitting prowess of the Yankees.
New York Yankees' pitcher Roger Clemens went into Friday nights' game looking to move himself one win closer to 300 wins in his career.

In a dominating six-inning performance, he did just that, as he helped lead the Yankees to an 11-4 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Clemens allowed only five hits, one walk, and only one batter to cross home plate, while he fanned eight other Twins' victims in the game.

With the win, Clemens is now only four wins away from the 300 milestone.

As always the Yankees offense was very potent.

Alfonso Soriano didn't waste any time, by driving a lead off home run into the left field bleachers.

In the next inning, Robin Ventura of the Yankees would tack on another solo home run, followed by a Raul Mondesi home run in the next inning to make it 3-0.

Then in the sixth inning, the flood gates would open for the Yankees as they would score four runs.

With runners on first and second, Jorge Posada smacked a double to right, scoring Bernie Williams and advancing Hideki Matsui to third.

Then with runners on second and third, Robin Ventura singled to center scoring Matsui and putting Posada on third.

Next, with only one out, Mondesi lifted a ball to deep center. Posada tagged up and scored, while Ventura moved to third.

Soriano would cap the rally with a single to center scoring Ventura.

Ventura would strike again in the seventh. With two outs and Posada on first, Ventura hit another bomb to right, making the score 9-1 in favor of the Yankees.

In the eighth, the Twins would try to amount a come back, but it would prove to be pointless, as they only scored three runs adn went into the ninth losing 9-4.

The Yankees would tack on two more runs in the top of the ninth, when Matsui hit a double down the line scoring Chris Latham, then scoring himself later in the inning on a wild pitch.

Antonio Osuna would then close out the game for New York, going 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth.

The Yankees, 13-3, are the hottest team in baseball right now and boast the best record to prove it.
