Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Welcome Baby
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed a daughter, Suri, into the world on Tuesday after what seemed like a million months of pregnancy.

Cruise’s rep released a statement Tuesday afternoon announcing the birth. She said in a statement: "Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise joyously welcomed the arrival of a baby girl, Suri, today. The child weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches in length. Both mother and daughter are doing well." A source said that the baby "has lots and lots of dark hair and big, blue eyes." The source added, "She’s going to be a beautiful baby." Holmes was able to leave the hospital with 24 hours. There have been no reports of whether or not she had a silent birth, but it has been released that she did receive an epidural.
Cruise and Holmes began the spectacle that is their relationship almost one year ago. They began dating and almost six-months later announced that Holmes was expecting the couple’s first child. The couple is set to tie the knot this spring. This is the first child for Holmes who has been playing step-mom to Cruise’s two kids, Isabella and Conner. Cruise and his ex-wife Nicole Kidman adopted the kids while they were still married. As for the name Suri, Cruise said they found it in a baby name book that some friends had given them. The name means "princess" in Hebrew and "red rose" in Persian.
In an ironic twist, Brooke Shields delivered her second daughter on Tuesday morning as well. Not only that but they delivered their babies in the same hospital. Shields and hubby Chris Henchy welcomed daughter Grier Hammond to their family. Shields and Cruise engaged in a war of words last year after he criticized her choice to use prescription drugs to battle her post-partum depression after giving birth to her first daughter, Rowan. Cruise said Shields was "irresponsible" and said that all she needed to do was take vitamins. Shields fired back labeling Cruise "dangerous." The two starred in the 1981 movie Endless Love and have not worked together since.
