My Husband, My Life

A poem that celebrates the love I have for my husband.
You are the epitome of all that a man can aspire to be.
Legs, sinewy, wiry; covered with a moss like hair
Leap from ankles that bear the trunk hard thighs.
Buttocks as round, firm and tempting to squeeze
As the melons in the produce department where we shop.
The back, that has borne the weight of this country’s army,
Rises from hips reminiscent of a stag horn deer.
Shoulders that carried your comrades, in ill and in war,
Give birth to the neck that draws my lips like a lodestone.
Massive arms, that hold me as though I am cotton candy,
End with hands that are strong enough to break a neck or
Tender enough to wipe away a grandchild’s tear.
That mass of hair, akin to the snow capped mountains,
Crowns the head that inters the brain most men pray to have.
Eyes that sparkle like sunlight, seen through a cataract,
Give looks of love, assurance, and strength of character.
Lips as tender as a butterfly wing, moist, full and waiting
To draw mine to inhale your heavenly breath.
You are this and so much more than words can express,
You are my husband, my hero, my lover and my life.
