Buried Treasure In Santa Cruz
An unemployed technical writer has a brief chance encounter with a homeless person and his dog while taking out the trash.
I walk into the dumpster area of our apartment complex to dump my trash and notice a nice mellow brown-and-white dog resting alongside the dumpster.I give him a smile and, before I can put my plastics into the plastic recycle bin on the left, a scraggy wild-looking dude jumps up from inside the dumpster on my right, grins and explains:
"Looking for buried treasures."
I gave him the high sign and moved on.
