Britney’s "Truth or Dare"

Spears’ reps are currently discussing with broadcast networks a proposed reality series that would let fans in on her life backstage. The series will reportedly be titled OnTourage, and will follow Britney on the European leg of her Onyx Hotel Tour. The series would show Brit as she interacts with the dancers, her managers, and the like; preparing for each night’s show; and life on the road. The series was reportedly inspired by Truth or Dare, Madonna’s documentary of her Blond Ambition Tour, and MTV’s The Real World.

If picked up, the proposed series will purportedly run for six episodes and Brit herself will be doing a lot of the shooting with the help of a handheld digital camera. Spears will serve as narrator of the documentary as well as executive producer. Shooting is expected to begin when the European leg of her tour kicks off in London on April 27. If any of the networks take the bait and buy the show, we can expect the series to air as early as this summer.

Spears has spent the last few years trying to shed her good girl image and in the end has almost committed career suicide. She is definitely trying to get back on top with her new album In The Zone, although album sales have definitely not been astronomical. Seeing the success Jessica Simpson has had as of late must have spurred Britney into taking serious action. It seems while Simpson’s star is shining, Spears’ is dimming and she is desperately trying to keep it aglow.
