A (fictional) Q & A with Harry Neale

I sent a 10-question email to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's "Hockey Night in Canada" analyst Harry Neale. Here are my tongue-in-cheek thoughts about what I think the incomparable Mr. Neale might have had to say!
I sent a 10-question email to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's "Hockey Night in Canada" analyst Harry Neale, but I don't think the webmaster forwarded it for me.

However, just for run, here are my tongue-in-cheek thoughts about what I think the incomparable Mr. Neale might have had to say in answer to my questions!

1. I have to be honest; I love the way you call shots from "23.5 feet out." How do you generate such accurate measurements?

Part GPS, part LensCrafters! You can also exercise your eyes by trying to pick out the most attractive girl in the arena from the rafters where the press box is normally located!

2. Other than the big three (Roenick, Amonte and LeClair) what should the Toronto Maple Leafs be most concerned with against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs?

Trying not to trip on the blue line. That or the referees who will, no doubt, be trying to dispel any talk of Toronto bias.

3. What's your personal "highlight" as a broadcaster?

Responding to this questionnaire!

4. Is Don Cherry really that loud and opinionated in real life?

Worse. But we love him!

5. Chuck Swirsky exclaims, "Are you kidding me?" for the Raptors and Gerry Howarth likes "Thar she goes!" for the Blue Jays. What do you consider your personal tag line?

Can I super-size this?

6. Do the Leafs have the depth to go all the way to the finals this year?

That depends if they get to face Ottawa or not. That'll give them a chance to recover after the sweep.

7. Other than Toronto and Montreal, from your travels, what do you consider to be the greatest hockey city?

There are other hockey cities?

8. Who would you pay to watch play today?

Anna Kournikova and Jennifer Love Hewitt vs. the Miller Lite girls. Oh, were you asking me about hockey players?

9. You've called a great game with Bob Cole on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada since 1985. If you could pick a guest announcer for one game whom would you like to work with and why?

Besides you? I think Jerry "The King" Lawlor from WWE could offer an unbiased and honest opinion.

10. After 18 years as an analyst is there any chance you'll call the play-by-play for an entire game some day?

I don't think I've taken that many measurements on the rink!

Thanks anyway Harry!
