The Life, Vol.I
A thought...The life of Tommy Chaney has not been shrouded in dark clouds of racial injustice, incompetence of a fatherly figure, mental complexities, tragic occurrences, life-maiming happenings, or teenage delusions.
The life of Tommy Chaney has not been shrouded in dark clouds of racial injustice, incompetence of a fatherly figure, mental complexities, tragic occurrences, life-maiming happenings, or teenage delusions. It's a life of fortunate circumstances. A parents' strong marriage, the security of money, the lack of tragic experiences, and the acceptance of society.
Yes, he is showered with opportunity, friends, mental stability, and a perception of the world that puts more evident extremities first. Seeing all this rather than sulk in his problems that are not relative to the grand scale of things in society. He thinks big. He thinks wide. He feels strong despite the realization of his insignificance to the whole universe.
But despite the fact that he is a miniscule figure, he dares to overcome society, a human invention, and find something. Not money. Not riches. Those are supplemental to success in this society, seemingly there but in essence don't exist. No, he will find pride. This he will find in himself at the most selfless level. Furthermore, he will give back, not to "society", but to people, to humanity. Camus can't be correct. For no one knows what life is to call it meaningless.
While Tommy exists, he cherishes it. He then aspires to give a chance to those yet here. This existence may appear insignificant, but there is no denying the feeling of being. He is something. A unique compound of atoms, into molecules, into a structure like no other in the entire universe. That is the feel-good feeling found while sitting around a campfire.
In conclusion, if given the chance to live, then LIVE. Tommy Chaney is not the result of society's continuing anguish and suppression upon the less fortunate. Tommy Chaney is the simple result of human thought.
