Hong Kong bans Sars travellers
Indonesia and the Philippines joined the list of countries affected by the deadly atypical pneumonia sweeping the world yesterday.
Hong Kong, which along with China is the hardest hit by the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome, Sars, banned all suspected patients from travelling abroad.
China reported three more deaths and the World Health Organisation warned that the inadequate health system in the capital, Beijing, could allow it to spread rapidly.
The US warned on Thursday against visiting China.
The authorities in Hong Kong announced their drastic measure to fend off complaints that Hong Kongers were spreading the bug that killed another two people in the territory yesterday.
Indonesia's first "probable" patient is a 47-year-old Chinese British businessman from Hong Kong who contracted the illness in either Hong Kong or Singapore, health authorities said.
