A sneak Preview on the changing trends of Women's Health!! It’s a rare sight to see the flexed muscle that holds a dumbbell to be that of a woman! I mean women can visit Gyms to lose weight, get rid of the bye-bye fat, try burning out the extra calories, thanks to middle-age fat that specifically smiles through the love-handles, but lifting weights is a rare sight.

A Rare Sight!
It’s a rare sight to see the flexed muscle that holds a dumbbell to be that of a woman! I mean women can visit Gyms to lose weight, get rid of the bye-bye fat, try burning out the extra calories, thanks to middle-age fat that specifically smiles through the love-handles, but lifting weights is a rare sight. Well, not anymore! Times surely have changed. When you switch channels to watch something better on the television, nine times out of ten, women dominate the scene. Be it the women’s WWE title, (which men cherish, and for obvious reasons to gain better knowledge of fighting, or make that WWE!!) to the recent advertisements of women exercising in co-ordination with others on the beach….Fitness Beach anyone!!

A New Beginning
What used to be the coziest corner of our grandmother’s love and affection has now fine-tuned itself into well-defined triceps and biceps. Initially, when bra burning was the offshoot of women’s liberation, much to the male (read as male-dominated society’s) chagrin, its not uncommon to notice that the skin showing from an off shouldered dress (or a sleeveless one for that matter) belongs to be the one that has certain major hints of weight lifting. Women, in short have arrived!! Be it single mothers, or career-oriented women, or those belonging to the world of glamour, women seem to have made an enormously appetizing view! So much for their pot-bellied counter-parts!

Role models
It sure makes for a delightful picture to see the growing number of women at the gym, as compared to men, what with Madonna, Serena Williams, Jodie Foster and their kin making their mark, and setting examples for all of us to follow. Well, believe or not, muscles sure do look sexy! Or at least we sure are flaunting our stuff to the maximum. So while meal replacement companies make their supplements, they also keep in mind a woman’s dietary regime, her mood swings and all those factors that keep her femininity intact and yet help her in developing the curls. Strangely curls have a new definition, one that has the barbell and the effects of the dumbbell meshed into one, to complete the picture. One of the surveys even mentioned that women with biceps sure gave an inflated complex to most men, who at first frowned and later marveled at the effects a woman could accomplish.

A Unique Picture
Of course there are other schools of thought who still prefer the fragile, delicate (read as handle-with-care type of a woman) women that men would swear by, but then today when each has their own mind, it’s a matter of each to his own or is it ‘her’ own? What began as targeting a washboard stomach, post-pregnancy, it was just a matter of time that we proceeded to the other extremities of scoring a point over the darker sex! But I’ll tell you what, and here’s the juicy part! It sure is a pleasure to wok out. Why you may ask? Well, there are several reasons…For starters it activates your senses, not to mention your endorphins. Furthermore, I can say from personal experience that working out on problem areas especially your torso, makes a world of difference to your…Ahem! Upper extremity! But of course we women, never had a chance to prove ourselves before this, but then it sure is a pleasure to look well developed, what say?! Moreover, the mantra for the day is to remain Fit, right! So while you look great and feel great, developing muscles, to a considerable extent may also gives you an extra ego boost…and if you’re trying this for the first time and are apprehensive, trust me ladies, it’s definitely worth it!!!

So just get started!!
