Nobel Peace Prize Winner: The Internet!

As the title says, correct use of Internet has help humans achieve what many of us only dream of. Distances are covered, time saved and ultimately productive of each individual increased. This is the power of the Internet.
"For achieving unparallel success in joining the communities of the world and reaching beyond all man-made boundaries (and some natural ones too!), this year's Nobel Prize for Peace goes to............ THE INTERNET!" (big applause).

Yes it doesn’t matter if Internet is not a living human being, no matter it won’t breathe and red hot blood doesn’t flow in it's veins, still Internet has been able to achieve what the greatest of peacekeepers find hard to achieve......... PEACE!

Let's see how Internet so far has been monumental in doing this. Firstly, Internet has NO BOUNDARIES. Anyone with a few meters of cable and little resource find themselves as the citizens of World Wide Web or better called Netizens. They travel to any country, any place and that too even without passport, without visa. No questions asked. Even if they travel in air (satellite communication), there are no threats and no hijacks. Cross-border terrorism on the Internet cannot go beyond hacking someone's territory and re-directing them (homepage) to a porn site.

Sure, there may be information and strategies in the heart of evil do-ers who try to control even this medium of the net but here I am talking about day-to-day working and common people involved. Would you not feel like heaven, if crossing a border of a nation was so easy? I certainly would.

Anyway, back to Internet. The second reason for selecting Internet for Nobel Peace Prize is that, like cartoon strips where usually nobody dies even if someone falls from high above the sky and makes a 10 feet deep hole, he gets outside with just a bruised ego, fighting on the Internet is much the same. It's more of a productive exercise than shedding blood over a 10 feet wall. Forums are a great example of this. You comment and counter-comment. But nobody gets hurt! This is the power that brings together millions of people so different in their cultures and lifestyles, yet each one of them is just a faceless and unconscious promoter of peace and brotherhood.

We humans need to learn something from this. Even if we bind ourselves with this common thread of brotherhood when we sit in front a computer, we easily forget once we are outside in the real world. Nations go on building fences around their borders, so do individual states in a country, so does a city around it's neighbor and so does each individual build huge fences just to keep everyone away. Internet doesn’t do this. At least not till we ourselves let it do that.

Internet is a technology, a medium, a virtual space created by us, humans. But unlike a mother who teaches her child what she knows best and what truth she herself follows, we humans have created a masterpiece but forget to tread the same path. Let's follow this child and nurture it to make a beautiful noble being. A leader of peace.
