Fighting Fit for life!
Becoming more active needn't be difficult, even if it's been a long time since you last took up any exercise! It’s only an initial shrug that you need to get over your shoulder and off you are, back to the world of making the most of your body!
The simple route to fitness is quite simple really. Moreover it makes a lot of sense too. You just need to remember to keep it simple. As necessary, start with a few simple warm-ups, build up gradually and to add variety to keep things interesting. You may also add on your favorite song or start with the most difficult exercise so that you are sure to have gotten rid of it once and for all! Once you are used to getting started, it’s not difficult to get going. The initial push is what is most important.
Simple tips
If you've been out physically active for some time, it's important that you aim to make gentle, steady progress rather than going all out. The best way to start is to carry on with your normal everyday routine, but do things in a way that requires a bit more energy. For example if you are used to a certain rhythm in doing your exercise make sure that the rhythm is more enthusiastic for a change.
From a plethora of ideas you might be able to get from the Internet, here are a few that can get you started:
* When you go for your morning walk, walk faster. More than anything else, this is definitely a myth. It’s not how fast or slow you walk, but how much it is the quality of walk that is of consequence. Of course you cannot afford to be slow. The only hitch would be that this would totally slows your pace and makes you feel lethargic.
* Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.
It might feel difficult to begin with but its better that you use the flight of stairs. An even better suggestion is that you tag along a pocket radio with you and make it a point to switch on your favorite radio station once you arrive at a flight of stairs. This will not only diverts your attention from the staircase, but makes you feel good. Moreover practicing to walk as often as you possibly can, as this will enable you to release a great amount of good cholesterol from behind your knees.
* Escalators are for walking not standing still.
It may look funny at first but it’s best if you can make it a habit to be dressed in your favorite running shoes most of the time, as this would not look strange. Running shoes has an additional benefit; that you cannot match it up with just any attire. You've got to wear trousers, which in turn make you aware of your shape. So get going!
* Try cycling for short distances.
For short journeys, walk or cycle instead of going by bus or car. If you walk it up, an additional benefit would be that you’ll improve the blood circulation in your legs and you might also make it a point to look around in the neighborhood, something you would not do otherwise, if you are driving. Since you are going to be walking, you will obviously leave earlier than usual, inculcating punctuality amidst your virtues. In other words, like Johnny Walker, keep walking!
Choosing an activity
Choose an activity that you enjoy most. Like dancing for example. It not only makes you feel stress free, but is also an excellent stress buster, besides being a great form of exercise. Choosing the right activity can make you feel good and can guarantee the progress of the activity that you have taken. You could get into a monologue and ask yourself some important logical questions.
* Questions like knowing your hobbies, the type of exercise you think would work for you, even the type of diet that might work, etc.
* If you think dancing or aerobics is the option then so be it. The idea is to get you going. If it has in the past, it surely will even today!
* There are some people who constantly need motivation. If that is the case with you then you must find your kind of company to get rid of the boredom that you might get exercising alone.
* Alternatively what you could also do while running your usual errands is to go walking, and by that I mean go for a mildly brisk walk. You can always slow down if you need to later on.
Take your kids out and play with them in the park. The exhilaration that both of you experience is priceless and your kids will always remember and cherish the time you spent with them.
Take morning walks with your spouse. In time there could be better compatibility in this manner; besides you could make a few important decisions and plan your day together to avoid confusing situations later.
