Bad day?! You’re not alone

There are several reasons why we eat.. You might indulge most on a bad day!
In this land of plenty, hunger is just one of numerous reasons why we eat. Stress, boredom, sights or smells of food, social occasions, weddings, celebrations, living alone and sheer force of habits are common eating elucidators.

These can become so automatic that there might be a time when you just cannot control what you eat. And for many, especially struggler in the war against weight eating when they aren’t hungry is one of their biggest problems, amongst many.

Temptations and Cravings
Cravings might seem like something you have no control over, although they aren't physical addictions. They might just seem to be nothing short of a temptation when in reality they are actually triggering an addiction in the making They might be termed as normal, when in fact they are bringing you to the brink of no return, in time.

Your mental make-up largely affects your mood. Like many people tell me, losing or controlling weight is a mental process. How you think is as good as how you might eat yourself large! It can also be said about the events in your daily life. Most researchers have noted that people going through depression gorge on sugar. You’ll never really have that huge bar of chocolate, but when it comes to having fought with your spouse and by that I mean really bad, then all you’ll probably think of after you’ve washed of the salt deposits off your face is of a chocolate.

Ordinarily, a bar of chocolate would pronounce calories galore, but not on this day.. Then there are other days which I would term as fed-up days, when you just do not want to eat anything that’s even near to your imagination or definition of food. On such day’s you’ll notice that because you feel light you’ll also allow your gray matter to help you think straight. Of course I can’t relay say much for people for who food is life! They seem to be slotted in just another category far above your imagination. But ordinarily, what I am trying to drive home is the fact that the situations that you face in life are driven by food and vice versa.

Try this exercise. Question your food. I tell this to most people trying to lose weight. At most times it helps. Suffering from thyroid with a tossed over metabolism, its easy to give in to food (read as good food) but just try and think beyond what the pastry might hold for you. Besides calories and oodles of guilt you might be faced with several reasons, you might just throw it away. Make a conscious choice of not eating what is not required. If you’ve fought over an issue, or started the day on the wrong foot, then please don’t eat too much. Try fruits instead. Fruits refresh your mind. They allow their juices to wash out all that you thought you were going through. Here are some additional tips:

* Try organizing your thoughts, divert your mind on something other than food. You might want to list out the number of things you need to complete within today. Or you’d probably want to sort out your clothes within your wardrobe. Do something entirely different from what you had thought you would do. And please do not read anything! The more you read, the more you’d be tempted to read about recipes; something you thought you might do in 2027.

* Think about the pros and cons about indulging and what you would have to do in terms of additional exercises if you had to gorge in all of those calories. Try cardio vascular exercises, like walking, swimming, or even aerobics. Anything that makes your body move physically. It will not only make you sweat out, but also keep you away from distracting thoughts of food or events tat make you sad. This would work best because by the end of it all you’d be so tired, that there might not be enough strength for you to get you back on your feet.

*Indulge once in a while but see to it that it's only once in a while, if you think you might not be able to keep it up to once in a while then forget it. Murphy’s law works best here, if you think you might go a bit too far, be rest assured that you will go a bit too far!

* Place all food, mostly sugary ones, like chocolates either away from your reach or even better, give it all away. If it stays within your reach or even out of it, your mind will make a mental note and won’t let you refrain from eating.

* Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water instantly as you feel the cravings approaching. If possible start drinking water the minute you feel the cravings are quite close to you lifting the piece of cake, or whatever it was you wanted to eat at the time. Gulp down at least a gallon of water so that you cannot even think of food for the next few hours. Repeat if necessary. You'll be forced to go to the loo and the thought of that chocolate pastry will be a thing of the past.

If these don’t help then go for a walk! Moving in larger surroundings can take your mind away from where it was, aiding in the process of abstinence of food even more. Best of Luck, I won’t say food for thought this time!
