Cellulite has gained importance in the recent years, thanks to fitness freaks across the globe. Cellulite is nothing but the excessive loathsome fats dangling and accumulating, either on your love handles or your wings. This area refers to either the sides of your thighs, or the sides of your waists a little above towards your back. True to being your best friend, cellulite is one of those ugly residues of all the over indulgences that you have brought your body to. One of the most difficult bits of your body to melt, cellulite is one of the most difficult to melt, according to recent research figures. Interestingly, you’ll find most women prone to it.
While remaining fit today is the best thing that happened to all of us alike, maintaining it all throughout is as pivotal! And in our endeavor to maintain and remain fit, we've tried just about everything.
A little more about Cellulite
Let’s get to the facts really. There’s one thumb rule to all of us irrespective of the age, that we are all prone to cellulite as we age. With all possessions that accompany old age, sagging of the skin, addition of wrinkles and loads of other degenerative processes that additionally add to our personality; cellulite is one of them.
Cellulite refers to a permanent change in fat. This may or may not be true, the permanent bit of it! It is true that the effects are permanent, but with perseverance and determination, you can get rid of it, so it’s not one of those gifts that will remain with you forever. Of course, this is one of those things that grow as we age! Fat cells have this unbelievable quality of being stored under the layers of your skin. It may be hard to believe but even the most anorexic of people have fat cells stored in them. And fat in turn welcomes cellulite with time.
An added incentive along with wrinkles, cellulite also create scar like depressions on our skin giving it a spotty appearance. While you skin sags, and gets dry, cellulite adds a lot more impression to it. A thin layer of tissue is what cellulite holds in between the fat cells, making it more fibrous. It pulls together the fat layer and causes tiny dimples and irregularities: a typical cellulite trait. You can see these erupting most on the sides of your thighs, or love handles if you please!.
Hormonal factors
Like most things and occurrences in the body, cellulite is also linked to hormonal levels. Most things in the body are associated with hormonal imbalances. Makes one think that almost all hormones are like the various branches of your brain that need to be sufficiently fed with androgens and estrogens from time to time. Any decrease in the levels of hormones and the body starts giving signals of some failure somewhere. Interestingly, the manufacture of estrogen is closely linked with cellulite.
Although males also suffer from the cellulite condition, it has been reported that most females go through this condition. It may also be possible that this is because of the child bearing capacity that is exclusive to women and hence the problem. It is also possible that this could get worse with age and menopause.
Treating Cellulite
Nothing as simple or as superficial as a cream could possibly break down the process of fibrosis or reverse it. Despite the mushrooming of Ayurvedic powders and capsules, there are no real magic pills or lotions that you could treat Cellulite. Massage is supposed to break down the fibrous bands, but there's little hard evidence to support this. If massage were to work, it would have to be extremely firm to have any effect, and by now almost of the women would be plagued by it. What you can do is maintain a healthy diet and exercise as regularly as you can. If you think you don’t have the time to exercise, well, make time for it!
The only treatment sadly, that might help the Cellulite problem is liposuction. A dramatic step to take liposuction works by actually sucking out the fat cells, from its origin. It is almost like almost like how lasers help in getting rid of bodily hair, from its root. Once gone, these cells are not replaced, so your skin may remain smooth for a time until you binge again and replace them with newly stored fat cells. Your shoulders may be the next attacking ground for cellulite, if you are not careful. My observation is that the muscle prone area, where you may build the muscle also stores fat. So places like the stomach, thighs, butts, and even the shoulder where you can ton your body get severely affected if left unattended.
Although there is no guarantee that the fat that has been removed will get back in its original place, this has given rise to a vicious cycle amongst women for giving in to this form of fat reduction. Whoever thought exercise was out of fashion was quite right indeed; coz if it weren’t for religious follow-ups of the exercise and yoga regime, cellulite would have been the thing of the past! Don’t believe me… have a look at any practitioner of yoga and then decide who really suffers from the cellulite problem.
