Final Four revealed

Who is going to win it all? A look at the teams who will play for the 2004 NCAA men's basketball championship.
The NCAA men's Final Four is set: Connecticut, Duke, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech.

After a weekend of nail biting, beautifully played basketball -- with the exception of the Connecticut juggernaut -- any of the elite eight could be here, but what we are left with is two very good match-ups, one of which could be one for the ages.

Oklahoma State has the senior leadership, the talent and the coaching to win it all, but getting by Georgia Tech will be no easy task.

That the Yellow Jackets have reached the final four without their leading scorer and perhaps best player, BJ Elder, is a feat in and of itself.

There is no way, however, the Jackets will persevere against Oklahoma State without Elder.

For Georgia Tech to win, they must have a healthy Elder, and Jarret Jack must continue to lead the team the way he did against Kansas.

Even if that happens, it might not be enough.

The edge in this game goes to Oklahoma State.

The Connecticut-Duke game is a dream for any college basketball fan.

This game provides everything: powerhouse college programs, both on the pinnacle of college basketball, both with players who can score inside and out, both with major NBA talent on their squads, going head to head.

Sure, it is hard to fathom Connecticut losing, given the recent beatings they have handed to rest of the tournament field.

However, no one can deny that the Huskies haven't played the likes of Duke, or anyone close to a Duke caliber team in their four games en route to the final four.

So, what should we expect? Expect to see great basketball, much like the 1999 championship game where Connecticut cut down the nets.

Sheldon Williams and Emeka Okafor will be a great duel inside.

Ben Gordon and Chris Duhon, if we are lucky enough to see them matched up, will be an incredible battle to witness.

In the end, I see Connecticut -- what a shock! -- winning it all.

This Connecticut team, much like the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA, looks like it was built for the post season.

At times throughout the year, the Huskies seemed almost disinterested in the regular season.

It was almost as if they were day dreaming about the moment that is right in front of them.

I didn't see the intensity from Connecticut in nearly all of their regular season games - with the exception of their memorable battles with Pittsburgh -- that the Huskies are showing in the NCAA tournament.

In other words, the rest of the field is in Connecticut's way, and the Huskies aren't taking any prisoners. Jim Calhoun knows what it takes in the tournament, as his 41-14 record would indicate.

Calhoun has his teams built for this time of year, and with the concentration and talent on this squad, no team can deny them.
