Boxing: Harrison Ready for Step Up in Weight to Fight Barrera

Scott Harrison may face the Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera this year if he successfully defends his World Boxing Organisation featherweight title against the undefeated Juan Guzmán of the Dominican Republic at Belfast's Kings Hall on May 20.

Barrera is due to defend his own World Boxing Council super-featherweight title against Rocky Juarez on the same night and Harrison's coach and father Peter Harrison said: "Scott has been doing featherweight since he was 15 and now he's 28. I think the time is right for him to move up to super-featherweight. If Frank Warren [Harrison's promoter] can come to us and offer us a fight with Barrera then that would be a great reason to move up a weight."

Harrison is joint top of the bill in Belfast with the Northern Irishman Eamonn Magee, who will fight Mehrdud Takaloo, of Margate. Amir Khan will have his seventh professional contest after six victories in a row.
