Pamela Anderson Suffering from Hepatitis C

Pamela Anderson announced last week that she is suffering from hepatitis C and blames ex-husband, Tommy Lee, for infecting her. Anderson claims she contracted the disease from sharing an infected tattoo needle with Lee. Hepatitis C can cause life-threatening liver damage and is usually spread through blood-to-blood contact, usually by sharing intravenous needles or unprotected sex. In a statement she said, "It is true I have hepatitis C and have undergone outpatient treatment at UCLA Medical Center. I contracted hepatitis C while sharing a tattoo needle with my ex-husband, Tommy Lee."

Initially, Lee denied the allegations. An unidentified spokesperson was quoted on Entertainment Tonight as saying, "Tommy has never had hepatitis C or any sexually transmitted diseases. Pam’s ridiculous accusations are attempts to try to change the current joint custody arrangement for their children." Lee and Anderson are involved in a nasty custody battle for their two children, 5-year old Brandon Thomas and 4-year old Dylan Jagger. Lee’s publicist, Beth Katz, released a statement late last Wednesday and did not directly address the hepatitis C allegations. Katz did say, "Her [Anderson] actions today are a clear attack on Tommy and hopefully she will realize that she is only doing more harm to her children and herself by trying to use the media as a tool to hurt Tommy and their two boys."

Lee and Anderson wed after a five-day courtship and their relationship was rocky from the beginning. Instead of exchanging wedding bands, the couple had each others name tattooed around their ring fingers. Pam had hers changed to "Mommy" after the couple split two years ago. As of right now Anderson and Lee share joint custody of the kids, but Anderson is seeking sole custody. Pam’s current boyfriend, Kid Rock, stated he did not know of Pam’s condition until she released a statement to the press. Hmm…interesting… is Anderson’s story about contracting the disease from Tommy Lee just an attempt to sling even more mud at her ex?
