Nokia executive Anssi Vanjoki said last week that music device and camcorder makers would be the next industries to feel the hardening competition from cell phones. This has to do with that Konica-Minolta announced that it will stop making digital cameras.

Nokia's multimedia head Anssi Vanjoki commented for Financial Times that "In the next 6-12 months, there will be more of these announcements.

In the next years to come companies that make money from digital photography are finding it harder and harder to stay in business.

Music handsets have become more common over the past year, with Nokia itself shipping some 40 million of them. Nokia has set a target to double this volume in 2006. Nokia also plans to put high-quality video recording onto more mid-range phones in the future. Until recently, such features were only available on high-end smartphones, out of the reach of most consumers.
