Money : How much money is enough!
How often is that we really consider the colour green to be one of our favourite colours? Colours determine a part of our personality, but then that’s not we are currently looking at!
The beginning of a New Age mantra
One of the many hobbies that I seek to pursue as long as I live is to shop; and shop galore. Many people share this hobby with me. My mother thinks it’s a crazy idea but then shopping is a rare quality and more often than not it is also an expensive one. Whether you bargain or get a major discount on things in general, shopping besides improving your tastes and making you aware of the trends in the outside world involves one major aspect…. Money!
Designer Humans
We live in an age dominated by brands. Whether these relate to the shoes you wear, the accessories that you have or even the food you eat, we are all driven by brands. Thanks to explicit media and advertising, we are also well aware of them. And the more aware we become, the more we desire to possess them. I mean brands…. So how do you define the new age woman? An hourglass figure, designer-wear, spunky attitude and lots of greens………………… You can bet you life that the last item on the list means the world to most of us. After all there is so much variety in this world, what do you do when you have so much you desperately want to possess? Well, in such a scene you do two things. You either forget that all of this exists that saves your pocket or you splurge. Although the pace for splurging may differ and vary from person to person, the fundamental rule is ‘possession’.
Money today, in my eyes
So what comes next? You guessed it, the need, make that ardent need for earning money? Which brings me to another question (I told you I am the eccentric kind…If you didn’t know that, well now you know!), how much money is enough! Most cultures teach us values above all things, and also that the lure of money is intoxicating. With liberation and liberalization, everything seems to be accessible, making the world a global village.
Coming back to my question, how much money does a person need? There are very few who believe that money is not only to be earned, it is also to be spent. It’s actually a vicious cycle. The more you spend; you tend to replenish it with even more. It has, as I mentioned earlier, an intoxicating effect. Spending hard earned money makes human beings want for more and when they want more, they can, in due course go to any lengths to get it. Did I speak of values…Yeah I think I did. When we talk about money there is a certain limit each human being attaches himself/ herself with.
It’s not surprising to note that some of us come really cheap! Don’t get me wrong! We aren’t cheap! We were taught that we are unique. But the rush to make us earn more money day after day makes us attach a price tag to ourselves! ‘No pain, no gain’ is the adage I grew up. It’s a pity to see many people dumping that through the corner of their souls. Many individuals consider attaching a rate to their work, if you understand what I mean? The rest of us spend a large part of our lives in accumulating it through the hard way! And still others try finding out ways and means of getting easy money!!
Every holy book in this world first preaches about the ways to live. It is perhaps this ardent need to make money that has taught us another lesson, the means to survive! Some food for thought!
