There have been reports that Sarah Jessica Parker is very upset that news of her replacement came the same week that her Gap Spring campaign began. She is reportedly "mortified and humiliated" that Stone is replacing her. A source close to Parker said, "Sarah's spring campaign for Gap has only just started and she feels the announcement of her replacement in the same week that the new ads are appearing is a bit of a snub. Joss is not only a teenager, she is a virtual unknown. Had her replacement been a big star, perhaps Sarah wouldn't have minded so much." Parker's rep had a different tune. She said, "She has already done three campaigns for Gap. Her contract was up and Gap and Sarah are parting amicably."
The 17-year old British soul singer Stone is set to appear in a number of ads for the company's new white denim line. Stone is said to be "really excited" about working with the Gap. At this year's ceremony, Stone was nominated for three Grammy Awards. She didn't win, but she did perform with Melissa Etheridge for a tribute to the late icon Janis Joplin.
Parker has been the face of Gap for the past three seasons, but she has a slew of projects in the works. She is set to release her new signature fragrance sometime in the fall and she recently signed a two-year deal with HBO to develop and produce a number of projects. She is also starring with Amy Sedaris in an upcoming comedy Strangers with Candy and will be starring in two upcoming movies The Family Stone, a Christmas -themed comedy with Diane Keaton and Claire Danes, and will star in Failure to Launch with Matthew McConaughey.
