Life beyond Work
Idolizing is a good thing but too much of it may seem a pain at times!
Its good to be popular, and good to be good, but not at the cost of Age! Many a times, women tend to go overboard with work, so much so that irrespective of the many hobbies that they might claim to have, at the time when its most needed, nothing seems to fill in the void. They say that each age depicts moments that truly belong to it! It’s quite true to an extent! A child brings in much joy to people surrounding him; much like the curiosity of a teenager that remains unmatched as it inches towards the additional joys and responsibilities. Responsibilities that somehow at that time seem to forsake time itself!
Work, work and more work
In an age where working is the all-important factor to earn both money and respectability, there comes a time in every woman’s life that gnaws her to no end. It is perhaps this enveloping vacuum that makes people join clubs and groups of like-minded personnel. At a time where work seemed to demand top priority, it is also important to know the ways to unwind oneself. And that too effectively! For many, work is worship. For others, it’s the only thing that makes them survive, in all their sanities! But once the retirement age inches in, with all responsibilities completed to the fore, it is usually seen that in the twilight of one’s life, women somehow slouch into an emptiness that is neither completely fulfilled nor satisfied!
An Age of Restlessness
Research proves that this happens more in the case of women as against men; well, at least the ratio for men and women vastly varies… Pitied against the multitude tasks of bringing up children, looking after the home and career are aspects that bog her down! Men on the other hand are the happier lot, spending more time with friends and colleagues. No wonder the rate of depression seems to be higher in women as against men. With hormones ruling her life, and the age wearing the body, it’s not uncommon to find women involving themselves in their best-known profession; gossip. With age catching up and wrinkles on the increase, few women are known to turn the tables in terms of health. So what do you do after all your responsibilities are over; when there’s nothing much to do, nothing but gape about and constantly introspect; as it were on life. Many turn towards religion perhaps; or consider themselves to be more useful with their grandchildren!!
Its good to pursue a hobby, even better to involve yourself in terms of building a positive mental attitude, or perhaps indulge in some soul searching through Yoga, but considering life to be ending in a short while, would be an end far preceding the actual closure!
Pursue a hobby
While on the job, it’s a situation of either work or entertainment. The reason why you could only perhaps join in only one of the situations may be multiple. Firstly, women tend to live with an undistinguished stigma, of not making much of a name, career-wise. Wonder why this happens but the fact remains that it does happen! So what really follows is but a routine, mundane life which most of the time lacks the flavour of living life to the fullest. While on the job most women need to realize the value of pursuing a hobby. Like girl friends, hobbies always cling on to a woman’s soul until the very end. And if the hobby is fulfilling enough, what more would you require. Its tough to even make note of what this hobby may be, as there never seems to be enough time for much to do. Yes, if there is a hint of determination and discipline, something that we all need I life, we could live it up, despite the forthcoming twilight years.
Reading is one such hobby, and so is the Internet. I guess the Internet is the best thing that has happened to mankind. With PCs becoming more and more affordable, its easier to learn and understand life as it passes by and even do all those things that one desperately sought to, but just could not, thanks to the never-ending chores of the monotonous life! Its strange how when we go to pubs and discotheques to relive the wonders of the soul, we seldom realize that someday when its all lonesome and empty, it will only be these planned pearls of thought that would find solace in the screeching silence of time!
