Generation Gap
There are two things definite about human life; three actually; taxes, problems, and relatives!!
Oceans across, it’s the same rule:
Generations, despite any day and age have their set mind and rules, which invariably are difficult to mend. We all think of kids to be like soft clay, and by the time they grow up, the society in which they stay largely constitutes their upbringing. The rest is determined by the norms that they all live by. Of course we are all rational beings and being the rational animal we balance sensibilities by two things; habits and scientific reasoning. Habits, as they form our fabric of life and science, as the thinking mind does not cease to question those aspects that he is unaccustomed to!
It all started in the beginning
When God made man, he left a few things for him to discover!! Primarily what he had to seek were problems; problems that would keep him busy! Believe it or not all our scriptures, regardless of our religion, there is always a mention of the need to be mournful in life. A brilliant mind that ‘He’ is, he had deliberately left some parts of our lives with the sorrow that drove us, in turn to seek Him! But then we aren’t talking about Him! We are talking about the forever-existent gap amongst relations, be it mother and daughter or daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, ‘Generation Gap’ is here to stay! And why only mothers, it can be anywhere, amongst friends, amongst our office colleagues, in short, in every place where there are juniors and seniors identified as they are!!
Cultures Apart!!
We’ve noticed that despite all our efforts in finding our best match in this world, there are some things that are thrust upon us. I mean, we all get married according to our choice and we all mingle with friends that are our own, but what we cannot choose are our relatives. We generally find our teenagers to be weary of this difference. It’s strange as every age while stepping into teens finds this sudden identity crisis of sorts. Its funny really how at that age just about everyone seems, not to notice you, completely alienating you in an instant! You grow up only to find and laugh about issues that were once top priority as you chose to prove yourself! But seriously, why do we have such a thing called ‘Generation Gap’, I mean its not really necessary, but like there are many things that are considered ‘normal’ with age, so is this. What do I mean? Well, for instance, mothers tend to knit for their bundles of joy before they are born, like grand moms are always full of stories and loveable mirth, so is the gap of generations.
‘The latest on Generation Gap’
Research on mankind has come up to various conclusions. That man shall continue to think as long as his brain is normal and that with time, he shall possess less hair with the overloading pressure of stress that continues to rule his life. And because we all are in the process of learning and unlearning, the rigidity, the arrogance shall continue to be as ‘normal’ as the air we breathe. Another fact, also proven is that given a chance, should humans seek to clone themselves in the quest for immortality, there could be a chance that generation gap may exist even between them. The only reason being that after all they too are made to be like their predecessors! Funny then that we expect them to live our lives and yet face the same problems that we have all these years, when it was least expected of them!
So why is this series of comparing the old with the new really existent? For the sake of an argument? Or just for the heck of discussion! No matter how far we grow, we’ll always tend to grow along with this distance of thought! Some food for thought! I’ll say!!
