Britney Spears: Restaurateur

Pop princess Britney Spears has reportedly teamed up with "famed New York dining-scene impresario" Bobby Ochs to open a Manhattan restaurant. Tentatively titled Pinky’s after main squeeze Justin Timberlake’s nickname for her, the restaurant will occupy the now-defunct French restaurant Virot on 41st Street in New York. The place is currently being refurbished for a possible end-of-May opening and will offer a wide variety of affordable eats.

Spears joins fellow celebrities, including Robert DeNiro, Cameron Diaz, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin and P.Diddy, by lending her name to an eatery. Ochs operates several popular restaurants known for their food as well as celebrity connections. It has been reported that nearly 80% of all newly opened restaurants in New York go under shortly after opening. Will "Pinky’s" stand a chance? With backing by such a high profile face as Spears one could only assume that it stands a good chance of survival, but then again you know what they say…never assume.

Princess of Pop, restaurateur, Pepsi pitch-woman, author…what’s next? Spears has already made her film debut in the coming of age story Crossroads and it has been reported that she is thinking of lending her name to a clothing line. If some reports are correct, she is even close to becoming Mrs. Justin Timberlake. She may be not a girl, and may not yet be a woman, but she is certainly recognizable -- and she seems to be residing on a pink-colored cloud nine.
