MLB: Knoblauch's throwing issues solved?

Reports are coming out that the New York Yankees will move infielder Chuck Knoblauch to the outfield to end all of his throwing problems. Is this the end of Knoblauch’s problems? Hopefully. The Yankees’ don’t need more distractions, like they did last year, when they finished with a very mortal-like record.

It all started last summer when poor old Knobby developed a little throwing disease where he couldn’t find first base, even though he was closer to him than both shortstop and third base. Poor Knobby then felt the wrath of the New York fans, and never was the same again. Last year was a horrid one for Chuck, to say the least.

Now, it’s the spring again, the time to renew your love for the game, and to play your best ball. Knobby’s back in camp and….. Surprise! Good old Chucky still can’t hit Don Zimmer if he was standing five feet in front of him! So, the Yankees had a dilemma- where to play Knobby. You can’t leave him at second, right? What about Designated Hitter? Well, the Bronx Bombers apparently did find a solution recently- Knobby would now be a left fielder.

What better to fix a throwing problem than to throw the guy in the outfield, where he has all kind of throwing room, right? Well, I guess that’s true for Knoblauch. Chuck’s a good guy, so it’s unfortunate. But, on a positive note, the move allows Yankees’ stud prospect Alfonso Soriano to move into second base, where he’ll be given a place to shine. If Soriano proves to be for real, this Knoblauch situation could be a great move for the Yankees.

Let’s hope Chuck doesn’t miss cut-off’s and bases when he throws from the outfield of Yankee Stadium. All New York needs is….say…. a throwing error to cost the Yankees the A.L. Championship Series against….say…the Red Sox! Now, that would be absolute heaven, considering I am from around Boston, and absolutely despise the Yankees, and worship the ‘Sox.

However, regardless, you can’t help but hope Knoblauch turns out all right. Like Rick Ankiel of the Cardinals, he’s a nice guy, and a very talented player, who just fell into some psychological issues, plus a little physical (on Knoblauch’s part- with his wrist). Keep watching this story to see how Knoblauch is doing in his new position.
