SOCCER: Liverpool set to face Barca

England’s most successful Football team of all time has been drawn to meet Barcelona of Spain in the final-four of this years UEFA Cup competition.

The Reds, who currently lie in sixth place in the English Premier League, have booked a date with Catalan giants Barcelona to decide one of the finalists for the UEFA Cup after they pulled through their quarter-final with Portuguese club Porto.

Thursday’s match ended two-nil with goals by in form striker Michael Owen, and midfielder Danny Murphy. The match was never in danger from Liverpool’s point of view.

By winning the English League Cup a fortnight ago, and guiding a safe passage to the FA Cup semi-finals as well, the Reds have carried hopes of a ‘Cup Treble’ for the season.

If Liverpool can manage at least one more trophy to add to the one already gained, and make a top three spot in the Premiership for a Champions League position, this will be their most successful season for more than a decade.
