Cheltenham Festival - Live!
Horse Racing: Hoof-by-hoof report: Follow all the action from World Hurdle day with Sean Ingle NOW.
Preamble: Good afternoon everyone. If your pockets are a shilling or two lighter after day two's favourites' bloodbath, you're not alone: the bookies made £40m yesterday, and will be looking for plenty more today. I got lucky, having stuck a tenner on Star de Mohaison at 26-1 ante-post, but have no strong fancies today, although Our Vic - which is out to 9-2 on Betfair - must be worth a wager for the Ryanair Chase. Meanwhile - contain yourself - we have another John McCririck Racing DVD for the best nap of the day, and five Virgin Guides to Poker for the runners up. To be in with a shout, email your nap for today's TV races to me by 2pm.
JEWSON NOVICES' CHASE
Preview: Not an easy race to call, this. Reveillez, ridden by AP McCoy, is favourite, but a weak one. He was 4-1 this morning, went out to 6-1 at lunchtime, but has just been backed into 5-1 after a £100,000 bet from JP McManus. Elsewhere, Pricewise's fancies, Tumbling Dice (18-1) and Turpin Green (8-1) are popular. "Here's a Cheltenham sob story for you," writes Graham Dawes. "I've had 10 bets on the nose at this year's festival - at £40 a time. So far, only one of my horses (Denham) has even made the places, and the spring bank holiday may have to be in Bridlington not Barbados. Have any of your readers suffered more this week?"
1.48pm - Latest betting: 5-1 Reveillez, 6-1 Turpin Green, Cornish Sett 9-1, Copsale Lad 9-1, No Full 14-1, Demi Beau 16-1, Tumbling Dice 16-1. Meanwhile the biggest nap sent in so far is from Rob Richardson, who says he's tipping Le Volfoni at 16-1. "After yesterday, I am a little light on cash, so a McCririck DVD would be ample reward!" he writes. Oh dear, things must be bad, Rob.
1.51pm - GU office fancies: - James Dart is on Cornish Sett "because I'm from Cornwall" (he's yet to have a winner this week, incidentally), Paul Doyle is on Copsdale Lad and I have a sneaking fancy for Turpin Green. The Guardian's Ron Cox, meanwhile, is on Demi Beau.
1.55pm - Latest odds: Copsdale Lad is into 8-1. Meanwhile Reveillez is 9-2, Turpin Green 6-1 and Cornish Sett 17-2. "I want the DVD!" screams Shaun Mallen. "I fancy Preacher Boy at a whopping 33-1." Get praying, Shaun.
We're off!: Turpin Green is into 5-1 and Reveillez, who looks Bjorn Borg-cool as he walks down to post, starts favourite. We're off! Demi Beau is the lead, by a couple of lengths, and setting a fair old gallop. The field is already stretched. Turnham Green and Reveillez are both looking handy with a circuit left to go ... Demi Beau and Kasthari are six lengths clear but there's still a way to go ... Reveillez is third, Turnham Green fourth, Cornish Sett is making some headway ... Reveillez is looking good in third, with four to go. Le Volfini and Preacher Boy are down ... With a quick burst Reveillez flies in front ... Copsdale Lad challenges him but Reveillez holds on to win by a couple of lengths to make JP McManus £600,000 richer.
Result: 1st - Reveillez (9-2), 2nd - Copsale Lad (8-1), 3rd - Tumbling Dice (14-1), 4th - Direct Flight (25-1)
