No Sex and the City
According to producers, despite rumors, a movie version of the HBO hit show Sex and the City will never be made.
The HBO hit series came to an end last month and it was immediately reported that a big screen version of the show was in the works. There were reports that stars Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis were all on board but that Sarah Jessica Parker refused to commit. Then came the rumors that there was a rift between Parker and Cattrall. The main culprit behind the rift was reportedly jealousy. Parker was reportedly jealous of Cattrall’s popularity, while Cattrall was reportedly annoyed that Parker’s pregnancy interrupted the show and that SJP refused to do a full 13 episodes.
There were reports that Cattrall was not interested in appearing in the movie. To which the producers reportedly replied, "If you don’t want to be in the movie, we’ll open the film with your character’s funeral." Ouch! Parker insisted, though, that she was the hesitant one. During an interview, when asked if the girls were all friends off the set, Parker reportedly went on about her friendships with Nixon and Davis but never mentioned Cattrall, sending the rumor mill into overdrive. Reps for all involved did what they do best – deny, deny, deny!
Now executive producer Michael Patrick King says, "Nothing we did in the series was altered to save something for the movie. This is exactly the way we wanted to end the series. We’re proud of what we did." Why mess with perfection? Let the series live on in syndication. Bringing it to the big screen might backfire and leave fans with a sour taste in their mouth! We’ll miss you Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte…but we will see you in reruns!
