Courtney Love’s New Charge

Los Angeles prosecutors slapped Courtney Love with a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct on Monday, stemming from her October arrest.
Love was arrested on October 2 after police responded to a burglary call at the home of Love’s then boyfriend, music producer Jim Barber. Love was arrested at 2:30 a.m. and charged with "being under the influence of a controlled substance." She had "clawed" through two screens and was smashing windows trying to enter Barber’s home. Barber refused to press charges, but police still booked her on a misdemeanor drug charge. She was released by 5:30 a.m.

Paramedics were called to her home less than an hour later after she had overdosed on painkillers in front of her 11-year old daughter Frances Bean. Love was hospitalized and charged with two felony counts of "illegally possessing prescription painkillers." The new misdemeanor charge is, according to Assistant City Attorney Jerry Baik, a "catch-all" to give prosecutors "more leeway in convicting Love should the original charge be dismissed." The new charge accuses Love of "endangering people in a public place while under the influence of drugs." Love calls the charges "retarded" and has vowed to fight them. She fired her original attorney who advised her to take a plea bargain that would have helped her avoid jail time and the charges would have been wiped from her record if she went to mandatory drug counseling.

Guess she feels that she has a better chance of fighting the charges. One has to wonder if she was under the "influence" when she made that decision. Love is a train wreck who can’t seem to get her life together. It seems that the suicide of her husband and losing custody of her daughter just haven’t been enough for her to conquer her demons and grow up! Maybe what she needs is some jail time! Hopefully for Frances Bean’s sake, her mother can get her life in order before she loses it and leaves Frances Bean an orphan!
