Birthday Victim

Written at the same time as "Fatality". The woman killed in the car crash was returning home after celebrating her 60th birthday.
Sixty candles extinguished
"Happy Birthday to you"
Family sings, celebrating
They are close, will not leave you.

You and your girls go out
Movie ticket now a stub
You ride gently home, chatter
The day perfect, can not flub.

A blur seen from the right;
Too fast. - can not react
Crunching metal, shattered glass
No pain, all light is blacked.

Trapped in twisted steel, unconscious
Your drained heart stops…CPR.
Extricate; we find we are too late;
You will not return to us, "au revoir".

One life is extinguished,
"Code Blue" declared for you
Family wails, mourning
They are close, will not leave you.
