NBA: Nash On Fire

The Mavericks have been red hot as of late. Is it because of Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley? Maybe, but the player that can't be overlooked is Steve Nash.
The Dallas Mavericks are on fire, and are one of the hottest teams in the West. I guarantee nobody in the Western Conference wants to play the Mavericks in the first round, because they are a scary team.

Everyone is talking about Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley for the Mavericks success. Sure they both have had great years so far and have averaged over 20 points per game this year. But the success of a team always falls on the point guard, and Steve Nash has been excellent this season.

After a couple of solid seasons in Phoenix he was traded to Dallas but never got on track because of nagging injuries. Now that he is injury free he has been on fire this year. He has had his way with every point guard he plays up against, and has been averaging over 17 points a game. He even manages to keep his superstars happy in Finley and Nowitzki.

His three-point shooting ability has been deadly, and has been shooting them like layups lately. With Juwan Howard in the picture the Mavericks are set to try to push their way up in the playoff race. Right now they’re currently the 6th seed if the playoffs were to start today, but only four games separates them from the number one seed.

If the team can develop chemistry with Howard in a hurry than they’ll have a great shot at hosting a playoff series in the first round. As long as Steve Nash can stay away from getting hurt like he has in the past then they’ll have a great chance. The Mavericks are definitely one of the best teams at winning close games, and have won tons of close games this season. So when the playoffs come that should benefit them greatly because most playoff games are close.
