Alcoholic

It's about an alcoholic. I wrote it for my best friend, her mom is an alcoholic…
Twenty-one is the special age
Alcohol you can buy
I drink a can or case
I’m instantly high

I’m so broke
And depressed
I just need a smoke
And go to the bar

I get a can
Then a few more
Then I get the last one
And head for the door

I go home
Greet my man
And begin to pour
Another can

My daughter calls
She starts to yell
She can tell I’m drunk
She is mad as hell

I fall to the floor
I’m so drunk I pass out
I start to dream
But then hear people shout

They call my name
I’m at the hospital
And full of shame
I was so drunk i passed out

The doctor came in
And said there’s something wrong
From being an alcoholic all those years
You destroyed your liver and don’t have long

I break down right then and there
I started a bad habit so long ago
I say a silent prayer
And ask to help

I call my two kids
And break the news
There are in shock
And there confused

A few months later
I struggle for air
I fall a sleep
And don’t wake up and have no cares

If you don’t want
This to happen to you
Don’t start a bad habit
And drink tons of booze
