Patriots Book Place in History

Super Bowl: The New England Patriots gritted their way past the Philadephia Eagles by 24-21 to win their third Super Bowl in four years.
They weren't at their most pretty, but the New England Patriots won't care about that this morning. For they are the Super Bowl champions again - their third win in four years - after edging the Philadephia Eagles 24-21.

For three quarters, nothing separated the sides: the two teams trading two touchdowns apiece to leave the scores tied at 14-14.

But after a nervous start, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady gathered his composure and his form, and two scores in five minutes - a touchdown run from Corey Dillon and an Adam Vinatieri field goal - proved enough, despite a late Eagles fightback

Deion Branch, meanwhile, won the Most Valuable Player award after tying the Super Bowl record for receptions with 11.
