Happy Bunny Tail
"When we decided we wanted to get a bunny to live in our home with us, we went on the Web to find out how to get one," Diana Korman of Plano, TX, says. "The first Web site we visited was Petfinder.com." She was surprised to find that rabbits, like dogs and cats and other critters, end up homeless and are posted for adoption on Petfinder.com by animal welfare organizations that take them in.
Diana and her husband, Joe, pored through the listings. When they saw Princess Chloe's picture, it was love at first sight.
The black Netherland dwarf rabbit was at BlueBunnies, a rabbit rescue in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. BlueBunnies' adoptable pets can be viewed at:
www.petfinder.com/shelters/TX356.html.
"Petfinder.com made it very easy for us to contact BlueBunnies and meet Chloe," Diana says. "Petfinder provides an important service and enables happy endings for rescued rabbits and the lucky people, like us, who take them into their homes and their hearts."
The Kormans are delighted with their bunny. "We have been amazed and thrilled at how her personality has been, and still is, unfolding as the three of us bond."
There are over 2,500 adoptable rabbits on Petfinder.com at any one time. The number changes daily, as groups update their pet lists.
In 1998, The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) partnered with Petfinder.com to provide shelter outreach and an extensive library of pet-related materials.
The organization has also allied with PetHealth, Inc., to provide a gift of two months of ShelterCare Pet Insurance, paid for by Petfinder.com, to every dog or cat adopted from a Petfinder.com member in approved states and provinces. The program is the first of its kind for shelter pets.
