David Gest Blames Tabloid for Split

During an interview with Dateline’s Stone Phillips set to air Friday, Gest claims that, after Minelli read a tabloid article that portrayed her as an alcoholic, she called off the union. "She got the magazine on a Wednesday morning, and on Thursday announced our marriage was over," Gest said during the interview. Gest, who has described his ex as an "alcoholic, overweight has-been," denies having anything to do with the tabloid report and says he and Minelli might still be together had the article not been published.

Who is this guy kidding? No one bought the marriage from the beginning. The "happy couple" was married on March 16, 2002 and a little over a year later they headed to splitsville and filed lawsuits against one another. She says he took her for upwards of $2 million. He says she physically abused him in vodka-fueled rages and is suing for $10 million. Gest claims that he is still in such agonizing pain from the alleged beatings, he has to have 80 shots around the head to deaden the nerves. He even goes so far as to receive needle injections to the head during the Dateline interview to relieve the pain.

He claims Liza gave him pain in the head, but he seems to be a pain in the neck. The producer-promoter seems to be trying to milk Minelli for all she is worth as well as milk his 15-minutes in the spotlight. During their marriage it was said that he was the one that acted like a spoiled diva. He needs 80 shots to the head for his pain yet he can sit with Stone Phillips and discuss their personal life? Gest says, "Whether people love me or hate me, the one thing they all say is ‘David Gest brought her back.’" Oh, puh-leez!
