Numerous Flyers are headed for college
Many members of the 2003 Lindbergh Flyers football team have already signed with various colleges, and others plan to follow suit. Here's the story.
Led by senior quarterback Brock Bond and recievers Chris Geisz and Andrew Spitzfaden, the Lindbergh Flyers football team finished the season with an impressive 10-2 record.
They ended it disappointingly, however, losing to Hazelwood East 59-14 in the Class 6A Quarterfinals.
Bond, however, has no complaints: "Even though we ended sooner than we wanted to, I've had a blast my past four years here and look forward to playing more in college."
Brock recieved a 90% scholarship to the University of Arkansas, but not to play football. Instead, he will take his throwing skills to the diamond to play second base for the Razorbacks.
The four-year varsity letterman signed his letter of intent with the school in early December.
Flyers WR Chris Geisz signed with Southwest Missouri State. He will be "red-shirted" this fall, which means he will practice with the team, but not play in any games and will not lose a year of eligibility.
Powerhouse lineman Beamer Eisele found himself with a tough decision. He has been accepted to the Big 10's University of Illinois, as well as Ivy League schools Harvard and Dartmouth. The senior has racked up a 4.2 GPA in his four years at LHS.
Also expected to sign with schools in the next few months are OL Josh Bender, DL Nick McArthur, WR Chris Lubbert, WR/K/P Andrew Spitzfaden, LB Darius Washington and FB Dan Gabris.
