Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Stalker Arrested

Venezuelan actor Juan Carlos Diaz, 33, was arrested in Miami on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest after he allegedly trespassed on Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s estate. The Estefan’s claim Diaz has been terrorizing them for the past two years. The saga began on the set of Gloria Estefan’s video for "Nadie Como Tu." Diaz was an extra in the video, and since then he has been accused of "following them to the gym, stalking their daughter at school, trying to befriend their son and invading the couple’s home on two separate occasions."
Diaz crashed a New Year’s Eve party at the couple’s mansion and allegedly "fondled" Estefan as she was dancing. On January 7 he was caught on video trying to break onto their estate. He told the cook who confronted him that he was Emilio Estefan’s nephew. One week later Diaz announced during a press conference that he was filing a "petition for a restraining order" against Emilio Estefan. He claimed Estefan and bodyguards attempted to "beat him up." He also claimed Emilio Estefan "approached him for sexual favors." The Estefan camp has denied these allegations.
The Estefan’s have now requested, and been granted, a restraining order against the actor. Diaz was barred from going near the couple, their family or their residence. A $1 million defamation lawsuit was brought against Diaz by the couple on January 31, saying the actor’s behavior was "frightening" and alleging he "victimized them and others." Diaz, who was arrested Thursday, was charged with a misdemeanor of trespassing for which he could serve a maximum of a year in jail. He was released Friday morning.
