"The process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods, services, and ideas to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organization objectives." This is standard definition. If you do everything on virtual basis – on Internet, it is e -marketing.
In simple meaning – any effort kind of marketing through Internet is e-marketing.
Marketing is strategic subject. You need an depth study and out going market knowledge.
Web sites, email, e-branding, e-tailing, e-advertising, e-publicity, search engine and affiliations are keywords in the Internet valley. Each keyword is a vast subject itself. And this is standard one.

Be specific
Narrow down your approach. Apply niche-marketing strategies. It creates wonders. Yahoo is broad cast post. It includes most of the markets. But it is matter of heavy infrastructure, investment and broad interest. If you are keen to target specific class, then match your promotional strategy with specific class only.
Listen to your customers.
Put all common dolls in display. But also get ready to create stupid figured dolls for your customers. Understand what your customers want and offer that. Amazon is a good example to understand this point.
