Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Welcome #3
Kelly Ripa and her actor husband Mark Consuelos welcome a baby boy, hopefully quashing rumors of an unhappy marriage.
Ripa called co-host Regis Philbin from her hospital bed after delivering the baby via Cesarean section on Monday at 9:31 AM. She told Reeg she tried to call while giving birth but could not find a phone. Ripa and Consuelos' named their second son Joaquin. They have yet to decide on a middle name, but jokingly considered Regis. Baby Joaquin weighed in at eight pounds five ounces. He joins older brother Michael, 5, and older sister Lola, 2.
Ripa and Consuelos met on the set of ABC's All My Children twelve years ago when they played lovebirds Mateo Santos and Hayley Vaughan. The two fell in love off screen as well and eloped almost seven years ago. Of course, no Hollywood marriage can withstand the lure of scandal in the media. Recently, there have been rumors that the couple was on the outs due to Consuelo's jealousy over his wife's career skyrocketing while his remained stagnant. The rumors persisted even after Ripa became pregnant with their third child, causing the media to speculate she got pregnant on purpose in order to try to save her marriage.
Another rumor has been circulating that Kathie Lee Gifford is trying to get her co-hosting position back and is using Ripa's maternity leave to do just that. It seems Gifford is "desperate to return to TV" and wants her old seat back. Ripa is currently in the middle of renegotiating a new contract and reportedly heard about Gifford's intentions and exploded. Hopefully, Ripa's maternity leave does not leave her out of a job.
