I like the Patriots

So, if you are just a fan of the NFL, who do you cheer for? I am rooting for the Patriots. Here are several reasons to like New England this Super Bowl Sunday.
Unless you are a fan of the St. Louis Rams or are loyal to the NFC or have a betting interest-for entertainment purposes only, you may wonder who to root for on Sunday.

Every sports fan is asked by others, "Who do you like on Sunday?"

Well, I thought it over and decided that I like New England, not necessarily to win, but at least to cheer for and hope to win. Here's why.

First, and foremost, to the NFL fans, we want a good game.

With St. Louis favored by fourteen points, New England can use all the cheering they can get.

Obviously, the oddsmakers are looking for a blowout. This would kill all the parties and perhaps even cause one to turn the channel or watch half heartedly.

I want the game to go to the last second to make it exciting.

Anyway, we, as Americans, are brought up to root for the underdog. You can't find more of an underdog than the Patriots. So, let's go Pats. Also, the New England Patriots play outdoors in Foxboro, MA. These guys play in snow, rain, sleet, or whatever Mother Nature decides to send them.

Where do the Rams play?

Well, they play in a climate totally controlled by man. These guys play on carpet, not dirt or mud or grass. Is this the arena league or what?

I'm sure there are very few cleats owned by Rams players. Their footwear consists of track shoes or training shoes that any of us buy at the store.

I'm not even sure if the Ram's home uniforms have ever seen dirt. They probably get dry cleaned.

The Patriots' uniforms probably have so many stains on them that they have to get thrown away or washed two or three times.

Furthermore, the fans in New England are real men and women.

They brave the cold temperatures each week of the season, and especially in the playoffs, where the snow fell so hard that you couldn't even see the field.

Pats' fans wear gloves, hats, boots, and do whatever it takes to keep warm while still drinking ice cold beer or soda pop.

St. Louis fans sit in short sleeve shirts, not even needing a jacket and have to drink their beer fast so it doesn't get warm. Football to them is like watching a movie. They always know what the temperature and the climate will be, kind of like a greenhouse.

So, whose fans do you want to be associated with?

Finally, and least important, the Patriots gave the media and the fans the only controversial story of the Super Bowl.

Who would start at quarterback?

The young, second year quarterback out of Michigan who brought them here or the high priced veteran who has experience and wants to start.

Even though most people assumed Tom Brady would start, it still was a question mark until the latter part of the week.

What did St. Louis have as a story?

Maybe Kurt Warner's bruised ribs would keep him out, but that's not likely.

Just about everyone who is starting is healthy.

I realize this is no real reason to go for the Patriots, but I just thought I would throw it in for the media's sake.

If I still haven't convinced you to go for New England, you can always root for a good game.

The last second kicks or touchdown passes are what we all want to see as fans of football.

Let's hope the people in Las Vegas are wrong and this turns out to be a two or three point game.

All I can say is, "Go, Patriots, go!"
