Jessica Simpson Sitcom Star

Simpson will reportedly portray fictional character Jessica Sampson, an on-air reporter for a primetime newsmagazine in the new comedy. Simpson signed the deal and will help develop the comedy that is loosely based on her own life. She also has signed on to star in the baseball biopic Walk On, which would mark her big screen debut. The film is based on the true story of the Texas Rangers franchise, which was nearly bankrupt in 1973, but was saved by 18-year-old rookie player David Clyde. Simpson would play Clyde’s wife and the film is set for a fall release.

Simpson’s acting experience has included reoccurring appearances on That 70’s Show and appearances on Saturday Night Live. She also stars in her own reality television show with real-life hubby Nick Lachey. The couple is now in their second season of their hit MTV show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. The show follows the lives of Simpson and Lachey and how they deal with married life as well as their respective careers.

We have all come to know Simpson as the cute ditz, but one has to wonder if she really is as ditzy as she seems, or if it is an act. Who can forget the "chicken or tuna" episode? With Simpson on the small screen, soon to be seen on the big screen, on the radio, and possibly starting her own clothing line for teens, it is a real possibility that we may suffer from Jessica overload! Although, watching her enjoy life is far more refreshing than watching other pop tarts trying their damndest to grow out of their pop star images! You go, Jessica!
