24 Star Sutherland’s Brawl

Sutherland’s bar brawl has sparked whispers of a possible drinking problem. No official word on what triggered the fight, but Sutherland’s rep insists, "he was defending himself." The actor was rushed to the hospital after being slashed in the face during the fight that earned him six stitches in the face. Filming on Sutherland’s series 24 has not been delayed, but the schedule had to be adjusted while his face heals.

Reportedly, Sutherland visited the set and apologized to the cast and crew for disrupting the scheduled filming. Sutherland has a history of alcohol related antics that include the former fiancée of Julia Roberts exposing himself during a drunken night out. There have also been reports that Sutherland spends many a night in the same Los Angeles bar where the brawl occurred. It was rumored that he goes to the bar after filming nightly and drinks until closing time.

Sutherland has earned a Golden Globe award and an Emmy nomination for his role as Jack Bauer in 24, but those close to him fear that his dependency on alcohol could lead to a downfall for the actor. Sutherland has a history of hard partying ways that dates back to his early years in Hollywood. He faced a reckless driving charge in 1993 and pleaded no contest. Since he has been enjoying the success of his hit television show, he has been photographed numerous times obviously enjoying himself in a bar setting.
