Why Don't You Love Me?

To my father, whom I've never met.
Why don't you love me?
Why don't you call?
Why don't you have nothing to do with me
at all?

Is it because I'm a bother?
Is it because I'm yours?
Was it because you were so young?
You thought I was a chore.

Was it because you two weren't in love?
Or is it my fault?
Does my face, eyes, nose
Make your love halt?

Don't you know?
Don't you wonder?
Don't you ask at all?
About the little girl who was a spitting image of you,
Even when I wasn't tall.

Do you awake at night
And wonder where I am?
Do you want to find me?
Do you want to know me?
Do you want to see me?

Why don't you love me, Dad?
