TENNIS: Boris Becker comes out of the closet

Each week the Boris Becker saga gets wierder. Each time, it gets a little more bizarre, and now it has become shocking. Sure, he fathered a child by a Russian model and denied it, but then we heard it was a one-night stand. Then we learned that it wasn't even that.

The genteman that Wimbledon has often been proud to call "champion," met a woman in a restaurant/bar and the two conceived their daughter in a closet in the restaurant. Becker has proudly stated that the youngster is his daughter and that he plans to support her, ever since the court ordered him to do so.

Becker has not been a part of his daughter's life since conceiving her in the closet and reacted with shock when he was told that she is currently dating Mark Chmura.

"That is absolutely despicable," said tennis' brightest star to come out of the closet since Bill Tilden. "If she's going to date an athlete, she should date one who plays a real sport. Doesn't he play some American game where men in armor crash into each other all day? A person could break his neck . . . only in America could that be a sport."

Becker denied rumors that he had also slept with Rae Carruth's deceased girlfriend. Rae Carruth, another guy who can't catch a break lately, may not even be the father of the fetus he tried to kill. Carruth, who was convicted recently of conspiracy to commit the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, supposedly did not want to be in the situation in which Becker currently finds himself. Carruth managed to kill his woman, but his son was saved and is handicapped. The latest reports however, offer an ironic twist; Carruth's girlfriend had also been sleeping with Boris Becker, who may actually be the real father of the handicapped child.

Asked whether he was angry with Rae Carruth for shooting his son while he was still in the womb, Becker replied, "that baby doesn't even look like me!" Maintaining that Carruth's victim is not his son, Becker continued, "I never had sex with that woman. Look at the baby and you can tell it's not mine; he looks just like his biological father, Tiger Woods."
